Stem Cell Treatments For Degenerative Diseases

What is Degenerative Disease?

A degenerative disease is a disease in which deterioration of structure or function of tissue occurs mostly due to aging. Degenerative diseases are different from infectious diseases and patients can often live for years with them. Diseases which can be considered degenerative are arthritis, Parkinsons disease, schizophrenia, Alzheimers disease, Cancer, spinal cord injuries, diabetes, heart diseases, inflammatory bowel disease and many more. Most of these diseases remain undiagnosed for considerable period because the symptoms are considered as the sign of aging. People encountering any of these mostly opt for conventional treatment which means intake of heavy drugs and risk of side effects.

Researchers have found a new way to treat these types of diseases and that is Stem Cell Therapy or Treatment. This therapy or treatment can help in most of the diseases which are signs of aging and can help you look and feel younger.

What is Stem Cell

Stem Cells are unspecialized cells that have ability to turn into any other type of tissue in the body. This ability of stem cells can be used in regenerating any type of cell or tissue in the body. For example, stem cell from bone marrow, on receiving chemical signals, can be transformed into specialized cells such as neuron or nerve cell in the brain. Stem cells are found in most of the multi-cellular organisms and have the ability to regenerate themselves by mitosis and differentiation.

Degenerative diseases are the signs of aging and stem cell can be the answer to most of these diseases. Stem cell therapy is fast becoming popular in the anti-aging treatment sector. This therapy helps in regenerating the dead cells of the body and helps the body in fighting the diseases which were once considered incurable. This therapy is also used in removing or reducing the wrinkles of the skin which appear because of aging. This is done by regenerating the cells of the skin and thereby improving the appearance of the skin. It is believed that this technology is the future of cosmetic and wellness industry.

Physicians and surgeons believe that stem cell technology is going to be a big thing in future and will have great impact on cosmetic and wellness industry and will change the overall medical industry. Any disease in which there is degeneration of organ or tissue is the potential candidate for this treatment. The treatment has also become popular for body rejuvenation or for slowing down the aging process. Some people also simply choose the treatment as a precaution, or prevention strategy, so as to ward off any possible degenerative disease such as diabetes, arthritis, or Alzheimers.

Stem cell therapy may help in reversing the effects of aging. Visit http://www.newestantiaging.com/stem-cell-therapy-anti-aging/ to know more about the stem cell treatment for age related degenerative diseases.

Osteoarthritis (Degenerative Joint Disease) In Horses

Have you noticed your horse not moving as well as they have in the past? Or maybe, they have that look of pain in their eyes that doesn’t seem to be linked to any noticeable physical condition. These are subtle signs of osteoarthritis in horses.

Horses put a great deal of stress on their joints due to their size and desire to run. When the animal starts to age their joints simply wear out, making it more difficult and even painful to walk and run. The most common cause of this normal progression is osteoarthritis, which is more commonly known as degenerative joint disease.

Degenerative joint disease is a progressive deterioration of the joint cartilage and represents the final stage of many bone and joint conditions such as traumatic arthritis, joint fractures, and infective arthritis.

The condition itself may range from mild to severe and can produce lameness, especially if treatment is ineffective.

There may be varying degrees of excess fluid in the joint, an irregular thickening and scarring of the membranes, and restricted motion of the involved joints. In more severe cases the cartilage may have deteriorated all together causing a bone on bone grinding sound.

Degenerative joint disease in horses is normally confirmed with the help of X-rays, which will determine the severity of the condition. If osteoarthritis is present the X-ray will show decreased joint space, bony outgrowths, inflammation of the muscles or tendons, and a hardening and thickening of the tissue below the cartilage. In mild cases, your veterinarian may be able to use an endoscope to determine the amount of damage the joint has sustained.

Conventional veterinary medicine treats osteoarthritis in horses primarily by reducing joint pain and stiffness. Drugs used to reduce inflammation such as firocoxib and phenylbutazone or corticosteroids may provide a degree of temporary relief. If these medications fail to achieve their intended purpose surgical fusion may be the last option to restore the animal to its past glory.

In summary, when joints start to wear out there are very few good options designed to reverse the condition. For this reason many horse owner have been turning to alternative natural treatments and supplements. Alternative natural treatments for osteoarthritis in horses have shown to an effective way to improve joint and cartilage health without the risk of harmful side effects. They are also considered to be very affordable, especially when considering the results achieved could be long lasting. If you are looking for a safe and effective way to help improve the quality of life for your horse, natural supplementation for degenerative joint disease is an option worth considering.

This may result to more colon bleeding, which may eventually lead to toxic megacolon. Toxin Megacolon is a condition characterized by enlarged colon, abdominal pain, bloating, toxic shock and fever.

Some other complications that is related with inflammatory bowel disease are eye problems, joint pains, kidney and liver issues, skin problems and loss of bone structure.

There are two ways in which inflammatory bowel movement is determined. First, is to get the a sample of the patient’s stool and test it, and second, use a microscopic camera to check if there are any lesions in the patient’s colon.

The drug Isotretinoin was first developed as a chemotherapy medication pancreatic cancer and brain cancer patients. In the United States, the most popular trade name of the Isotretinoin is Accutane.

Learning to Live with Degenerative Disc Disease and Back Arthritis

The lumbar spine is composed of five vertebrae; each one is connected to the next by the intervertebral disc and two facet joints.  The discs between each vertebra are made up of a tough outer ring called an annulus and a soft inner core called the nucleus pulposis.

The annulus is a ligament like material that connects the vertebra together around the outer edge.  It provides a tough strong connection between the vertebrae and holds the soft jelly like nucleus pulposis in place. The intervertebral disc acts as a shock absorber, and allows limited motion Each Level.

The facet joints are a zygapophyseal joint, which means that they have two smooth surfaces that glide across each other contained inside of a joint capsule.  The joint capsule is filled with synovial fluid that lubricates the joint. These work with the intervertebral discs to control of the motion of the lumbar spine.

As we age, the annulus becomes dry and stiff, and the nucleus pulposis loses its water content becoming hard and fibrous.  At the same time, the facet joints are getting worn and irregular, and possibly developing bone spurs.  This makes your back stiff and painful when you try to move.

Trying to live your life in spite of this pain is not always easy, but there are some things you can do.  Over the counter pain medicine, staying thin, and staying active and involved with your life can all help.  Carefully avoiding bending and lifting will help to avoid exacerbations of pain.

Steroid injections are sometimes helpful when one specific pain generator can be identified, but in most cases the pain is widespread and the condition exists at multiple levels. There are some surgical options but none of them are very good.  A lumbar fusion is possible, but it is usually very difficult to identify which level is causing the pain, and you can’t fuse every level.

You should always check with your doctor before beginning any new medication, but over the counter anti-inflammatory drugs can provide relief of the arthritis in your back.  There are other topical agents that will also help.

Staying thin and staying fit will help because any weight you carry in front pulls on your back.  Exercises to strengthen your abdominal muscles as well as exercises to strengthen your back will go a long ways toward relieving the pain of degenerative disc disease and arthritis in your back.

Staying active and choosing to be happy can also help relieve pain.  Being involved at your church and with other activities can distract you from your pain and bring periods of relief.  The pain of degenerative disc disease and back arthritis will likely never be relieved 100%, but with a little bit of help and a good attitude we can learn to live with it.

Low Back Pain – A True Pain In The "Butt"

Lower back pain is a problem for almost everyone at some point in their lives. Estimates indicate that it may affect about 90% of the population at one time or another.

This kind of pain can be a very complicated matter. The quadratus lumborum muscle is one of the overlooked muscular sources of lower back pain. Strains of this muscle group are often caused by combined bending and twisting movements as a person gets up from a chair or picks up an object from the floor.

Functional scoliosis and short leg deviations may strongly be attributed to a hyper-contracted quadratus lumborum. Also, degenerative disc disease may strongly be attributed to bilateral tightening of the quadratus lumborum.

Other physical causes of pain might also be due to osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, or disc herniation.

It can also be caused by postural imbalance. A tight hamstring or tight gluteus muscles has many times been the cause of back pain as I have experienced it in many of my clients.

If the cause of the pain is musculoskeletal, then certain manipulative massage techniques incorporated with stretches are very beneficial.

In my private practice I have seen many people with back pains and almost always have I noticed very tight hamstrings and gluteus muscles accompanying the pain. By decreasing the hypertonicity of those muscles, my clients were able to live with a pain-free back again.

I have also experienced great success in releasing back pain with energy work based on the teachings of acupuncture or acupressure. It is less invasive, gentler in touch and starts healing the body by harmonizing it from the very inside out.

Self-Help

If you think that the cause of your back pain is of muscular nature, try to stretch the hamstring and butt muscles for 60 seconds each twice daily. You can actually test the smoothness of those muscles by standing straight with feet about one foot apart. Now bend forward. Are you hands touching the floor without you bending your knees? If they are not, chances are very high that your hamstring (upper back leg muscle) and butt muscles have been shortened and need to be lengthened through daily stretches.

Back Pain and its Natural Remedies

Got a painful back lately? Many people does.

Back pain, or medically termed as ‘dorsalgia’, is a sensation of pain felt in the back part of the body. It can usually be felt all around the muscles, spine, bones, joints and other parts of the back. Back pain is associated by neck pain and tailbone pain. It can also be classified as upper back pain and lower back pain. Back pain can be categorized as either chronic (pain being felt more than 6 months) or acute (pain felt less than 6 months).

So, why do people usually suffer from back pain?

The answer lies in a variety of potential sources and causes. Potential sources for back pain are the skeletal muscles of the back and synovial joints of the spine. Potential causes of back pain includes muscle strains, muscle spasms, and muscle imbalances. Stress, anxiety, and depression is also often linked to back pain.

Other potential sources and causes for back pain are spinal disc herniation, degenerative disc disease, osteoarthritis, spinal stenosis, trauma, cancer, fractures, and inflammatory diseases.

Management for back pain ranges from short-term relief down to conservative treatments and surgery. However, there are also natural remedies that could help relieve back pain. Some of these are:

Acupuncture - according to TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicines), acupuncture works by carefully inserting needles on certain parts of the body thereby unblocking the trapped energy from the body. Scientific explanations of acupuncture states that it releases natural pain-relieving opioids.

Vitamin D – some people are defficient with Vitamin D and a deficiency of this vitamin could lead to the symptom of back pain. Rich sources of Vitamin D are cereals, fortified milk, and fishes. exposure to early morning sunrise is also recommended since sunlight can activate the natural vitamin D release in the body.

Magnesium – an abundant mineral in the body, Magnesium helps in maintaining normal muscle and nerve functions. If the body lacks Magnesium, symptoms like depression, irritability, muscle spasms, and pain could be felt.

Other natural remedies for back pain are Yoga therapy, Massage, and Vitamin B12 intake.

Though, it is a fact that these natural back pain remedies could help relieve back pain..also take note that it is necessary to know the main cause of the pain. If back pain persists and pain goes untolerable, consulting a physician is highly recommended.

Degenerative Disc Disease Surgery In India At Affordable Cost

?

Degenerative disc disease (DDD) is part of the natural process of growing older. Degenerative disc disease (DDD) is a condition in which the spinal discs start to dehydrate and shrink. Degenerative disc disease causes loss of disc height and less room between the vertebrae. This condition is usually found in the neck (cervical) and lower back (lumbar) regions of the spine. Degenerative disc disease is also called spinal degeneration or simply disc disease.

There are several possible causes for Degenerative disc disease. Sometimes discs becomes dry and shrunken due to leaking of protein from the disc. Degenerative disc disease can result from trauma (acute or chronic / repetitive), infection, or the natural processes of aging. It can euphemistically be referred to as the “grey hairs of the spine”.

Local Pain Stiffness Muscle tingling, numbness, or weakness Restricted activity / Loss of mobility Symptom relief with certain movements or positions

& many more…

Degenerative disc disease is diagnosed with a medical history and physical examination. During the exam, your doctor should check for range of motion and pain associated with the affected area, as well as any tenderness, numbness, tingling, or weakness…

For acute or sudden neck pain, doctors prescribe pain relief medications such as acetaminophen, anti-inflammatory agents, and muscle relaxants. Temporary bed rest or a brace may also be suggested. Usually patients are encouraged to get up and gradually increase their activities of daily living.

Patients who suffer from a herniated disc, ruptured disc, or degenerative disc disease, and have failed conservative therapy are often treated with an Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion. An Anterior Cervical Disectomy and Fusion has been the gold standard of treatment…

Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Artificial Cervical Disc : – This procedure reaches the cervical spine (neck) through a small incision in the front of the neck. The intervertebral disc is removed and replaced with a small plug of bone or other graft substitute, and in time, will fuse the vertebrae. While Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion remains the gold standard for treatment of cervical disc herniations and degenerative conditions of the cervical spine, the use of motion sparing techniques such as artificial disc placement are under investigation world wide…

Cervical Corpectomy : – This procedure removes a portion of the vertebra and adjacent intervertebral discs, which allows for decompression of the cervical spinal cord and spinal nerves. A bone graft, and, in some cases, a metal plate and screws, stabilizes the spine..

Natural Remedies for Curing Backpain

Backpain is one of the most common problems and many people are afflicted by it in the recent years. There is an increased risk of this disease these days due to hazardous work patterns and sedentary lifestyle. Moreover emotional disorders such as stress and depression may add up to the problem further. Obesity is also responsible for causing backpain as the backbone bears the weight of the entire body.

In majority of the cases of backpain, the pain is usually felt in the middle of the back or the lower part. This pain may spread to the hips and both sides of the waist. It goes on increasing due to which the patient is unable to move and is bedridden.

Majority of backpain patients suffer from what is called lumber or cervical spondylytis. It is a degenerative disease in which the vertebral bone loses its shape and becomes soft. This loses the flexibility of the spine further.

The main causes of backpain are poor posture, joint strain, incorrect nutrition and muscle tension. Chronic or acute illnesses like prostrate or kidney problems, influenza and arthritis and female disorders may also lead to back pain. Other causes include improper lifting of weights, stress and strain resulting from sitting for a long time, emotional problems and high heels which may cause painful muscle cramping.

Nature Cure for Backpain: Drugs prescribed by modern medical science to relax muscles or relieve pain does not remove the root cause of the problem. Moreover they can perpetuate the disease even further and become habit forming in case of excessive intake.

People in sedentary occupations should adopt certain safety measures to prevent and relieve backpain. Exercise is one of the most important of all these measures which improves the supply of nutrients to the spinal discs thereby delaying the deterioration process further, that comes with age and affects eventually everybody.

Safe exercises such as walking, cycling and swimming should be done keeping the back straight. Obese persons should try to control their weight as an important step towards preventing backpain as excess weight greatly increases the strain on the soft back tissues.

Persons in sedentary occupations should avoid sitting continuously at one place and take a break to stand up every one to two hours. Sitting positions should be changed as often as possible and soft seats should be avoided. Persons suffering from backpain should sleep on a firm mat on one side with properly bent knees at right angles. They should also maintain a caution while lifting objects and see that they do not bend from their back, but instead go close to the object, bend their knees keeping the back erect and lift the object.

A diet consisting of salads of raw vegetables such as carrot, radish, tomato, cabbage and at least one or two cooked or steamed vegetables such as cabbage, spinach, and plenty of fruits except bananas should be taken by a patient suffering from back trouble. Fruits may be taken during breakfast, lunch may consist of whole wheat chapattis and steamed vegetables and a bowl full of sprouts and raw salads may be taken during night time dinner.

Foods such as tea, coffee, sweets, sugar, fatty, spicy and fried foods and curd should be avoided by persons suffering from back pain.

Certain vitamins such as Vitamin C and proteins are essential for the development of healthy bones. Calcium, phosphorous, Vitamin D and essential trace elements are necessary for healthy bones. Refined and processed foods containing preservatives have a few nutrients and should be eliminated from daily diet. Vitamin C has been found to be very beneficial in averting spinal disc operations and relieving pain.

Application of hot water bags, alternate sponging and hot fomentations are also very helpful in giving immediate relief from back pain.

Yogic asanas such as shalabhasana, uttanpadasana, bhujangasana, shavasana and halasana have also been found helpful in relieving backpain.  The back can also be strengthened through exercise, relaxation and proper nutrition and in the process general health may improve.

Thus it can be concluded that natural remedies have been found to be very beneficial and helpful in the treatment and cure of backpain.
